Virtual Reality explained in simple words!

As we can read on Explainthatstuff(2018) VR in simplest words is experiencing things via our computers or mobiles that don’t really exist. Which isn’t really new if we take out the aspect of “computer or mobiles” from that definition. Listening to your favourite song with your eyes closed can be also an example of virtual reality (you experience something that doesn’t really exist). But in this blog post we will focus on the VR that needs a computer. According to TechTerms(2018) a person can enter a virtual world by putting on special glasses and headphones(not necessary) connected to a computer. These devices submerge the person with the sights and sounds of the virtual world that doesn’t really exist.

Types of Virtual Reality
But is there only one type of Virtual Reality on the market? Nope! Let me talk you through this and after that you will know few different types of VR.

Fully Immersive
For full VR experience we need few different factors. First – real and full of details world that we can explore through our VR. High end and really power full computer (which is still really big downside of VR). And last but not least hardware connected to our computer that fully immerses us in the virtual world as we are having fun J.

Non-immersive
A good example in this case is a very well-made plane simulator (while keeping a very high attention to all the details). Especially if we use a very wide screens with headphone or 5.1 sound system. Not everyone wants or need to be fully immersed in alternative world.

Augmented reality
Augmented reality is where we point our smartphone and we can see real place but AR is adding or change it a little bit. Pokemon GO would be the best example for this.

Pros and cons of virtual reality
Like any other devices and technology’s (specially new) according Filmora (2018) there are some pros and of virtual reality. One of the biggest beauty of VR is that users have extraordinary experience using it. Technology makes you feel that you actually experience the real locations and hear the real sounds of the world that’s around you. As a cons, I would point out that the VR technology is still really expensive. Especially when we talking about a really good brand like HTC, Oculus.

My opinion about VR
My opinion on Virtual Reality is quite simple. This is definitely one of the best and highly interesting inventions that have become popular recently. For not that much money we can move to a virtual world to which in many cases we wouldn’t have access. There is enormous amount of fun while using it. We can also use it for bigger purpose such as medicine.

  2. Good work Pawel, I never really knew the difference between fully immersive, and non immersive virtual reality. You explained it clearly to me. Would of maybe liked the article to be slightly longer. When you mention at the end for the purpose of medicine, that sounds very interesting to me.

  3. I wonder if VR could have some dangers attached to it. Some people are already addicted to games and with the extra level of immersion VR could lead to some dangerous outcomes. Regardless though your article pointed out a lot of positives to consider about VR. I suppose it is something to be excited about more than wary of.

  4. Another informative article, keep them coming. I'm not really sure if VR will have as much positive effects on the world as people like to make out. I can see people getting distracted from reality due to VR, maybe even wasting away inside their house, with the idea that if they're moving, then it's okay to do this. There are certainly positives to VR, it will help humanity develop and experiment a lot more as a race.

  5. VR doesn't seem as popular as it's made out to be , although it is an amazing electronic development and your description really gave me an insight to the VR world. I enjoyed this article as it kept me interested and wasn't too long, your facts and information were straight forward and I think you have a good eye for what is to come in the future surrounding VR technologies.

Virtual Reality in Esport?

This blog post will be about will be about esport and VR. I will try to clearly explain what esport means for those who never heard about it and how it could possibly work with VR in the future.  Beginning of VR in games What is esport? First of all, according to Telegraph article esport is a fast growing business which by 2020 will be worth more than $1.5 billion. Players that are already competing in tournaments on the highest professional level can win prizes even up to $25 million. If I was asked to describe esport as clearly as possible I would say that it’s a competitive gaming at professional level. Firstly it sounds funny to people who never heard of esport or never had much contact with video games but we are already on that level where from organizational point of view esport doesn’t have to be ashamed as it is on the same level as ‘normal’ sports. Esport is gathering millions of viewers around the world who are watching tournaments both live and onli...
